With its crisp, clear screen and ultra-fast processor this calculator is a must have for engineering and science students alike. Texas Instruments have really outdone themselves on this one; its ability to quickly analyze and solve multiple problems is simply beautiful. On top of the great hardware is the ability to create graphs and store them on a split screen, allowing you to trace the graph and scroll through the table values at the same time.

Unluckily this does not come with a TI Graphlink USB cord that allows you to connect your calculator to a computer. The calculator on its own is not as powerful, as you are not able to receive updates or transfer applications/documents to your calculator.

If you are at all considering getting a TI-83 you should really grab a cable as well.

As you can see, this calculator is a must have if you're thinking about getting serious with mathematics.

The addition of the optional TI-Graph Link (software and cable) allows you to connect the calculator to your computer, permitting the transfer of files and data between computers. The TI-83 is powered by four AAA alkaline batteries and one lithium battery for backup, with an automatic shutoff to save battery life. This was my first and only graphics calculator; originally I purchased it for data plotting, however its uses extend much further than this.

Generally, the TI-83 is an excellent choice for anyone taking any Algebra course, or any math for that matter. It performs all the essential basics, as well as graphical equations, statistics, matrices and a variety of other mathematical operations.
